The Vegvísir, also known as the Viking compass, is an ancient Icelandic symbol believed to provide guidance and protection to those who bear it, especially during difficult journeys. The word "Vegvísir" translates to "signpost" or "wayfinder" in Icelandic. This symbol is composed of eight arms, each radiating outwards, resembling a compass rose. The Vegvísir first appeared in the Huld Manuscript, a collection of Icelandic spells and symbols from the 19th century. Though there is debate about its historical use by Vikings, the Vegvísir has become a popular emblem of Norse heritage and is often associated with guidance, protection, and finding one's path in life.
